Faith Deployed Reviews

I am seven weeks into this deployment and have never ever felt the spirit of the Lord guiding me as I have this time. I owe so much of that to this amazing, well written book. It speaks to both enlisted and officer’s wives. It has no condescending message. It has the message of Truth and PEACE. It has helped shelter my soul and guided me through rough patches with my children. It has eased my suffering and helped me to ease the suffering of others. I have grown in leaps and bounds in these seven weeks, perhaps more than I have in the last 30 years of being a born again Christian. God is faithful and is walking this deepest of valleys at my side and he has sent this wee little book to be a light when it is sometimes so dark, I cannot see beyond my tears.

America’s fighting forces, and their families waiting back home, owe a sincere debt of gratitude to Jocelyn Green’s FAITH DEPLOYED. In this compelling volume she is the conductor of a symphony with more than a dozen virtuoso military wives whose widely varied experiences, and deep personal walks with God, come together to provide grace-filled music for the soul of the military wife. FAITH DEPLOYED is a rich and valuable resource for every military family–active, reserve, or national guard–and it is a must for each chaplain’s library to offer as a much-needed blessing to strengthen and encourage family members in search of spiritual medicine for their aching hearts and souls.

Walking the road of a military spouse staying at home while your loved one is deployed is not easy. Does anyone really understand how you are feeling? Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives answers that question with a resounding yes! Not only do they understand, but these authors also share encouragement from the Bible to handle those struggles and lonely days. The format of daily devotions makes this a great read without being overwhelming for those who already feel there are not enough hours in the day. If you are a military spouse as I am, I highly recommend this book. If you are looking for something to encourage someone you know whose spouse is deployed, I highly recommend this book.

The life of a military spouse is undoubtedly filled with its fair share of challenges, uncertainty, and fear. Jocelyn Green’s Faith Deployed takes the stories and lessons learned from military spouses from all branches of service and compiles it into a daily devotional that offers hope and encouragement to those on the home front. While each story addresses a different aspect of faith and life in the military, all have the same resounding conclusion: God is faithful. No matter how difficult this life is for those of us married to a man in uniform, this book is a reminder that there is amazing possibility in the challenges through our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. This book breathes fresh inspiration into the lives of those who need it.

Jocelyn Green and the other writers in this book have connected to the hearts of military wives with compassion, grace and hearts full of mercy. These writers have been there and have brought to us as readers compelling devotions to connect us to the Lord, our spouse and the hope of a strong marriage during times of deployment. In all the work we have done in reaching out to military marriages, this resource, Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives, is the best tool we have found for ministering to the spiritual needs of these heroic couples serving our great nation.

This book will uplift you, and give you the courage to press on, the comfort that you are not alone, and a hope that is grounded in the promises of God. A must read!

Fresh and engaging! My salute to Jocelyn Green who has put together a rich anthology of the choicest tidbits of spiritual nurture for military wives. It is carefully crafted to lift the spirit and soul of those who have struggled to see God’s grace embedded in their oft-jumbled lives of deployed husbands and short-notice moves; of expectations to be both mother and father to the children of America’s warriors; and of the unique demands that military life somehow places on them. A true companion to the Bible for military wives.

Military wives daily face unique and multifaceted stresses as they seek to love their husbands and children in the midst of the ever-challenging, as well as the ever-rewarding, life they experience in the military community. These brave women deserve our nation’s gratitude and honor. They also deserve Jocelyn Green’s wonderful book, Faith Deployed, which richly and powerfully connects biblical principles to the varied rigors and blessings of their daily lives. A must read not only for our military wives, but also for those who would seek to know, understand, and love them better.

Good morale is essential to good military functioning, and an essential element to military morale is what’s happening on the home front. Jocelyn Green writes to those thousands of military wives left to tend the home fires as their husbands deploy around the world-often for more than a year at a time. Ground in solid, practical, been-there advice and rooted in biblical truth, Faith Deployed should be essential reading for everyone whose husband serves in uniform.

Certainly military wives need help and hope for their critical role in maintaining strong families, supporting their military man, and serving our nation’s future. In Faith Deployed, Jocelyn Green has focused the relevance of God’s Word on the realities of life as a military wife. I strongly recommend these doses of encouragement as a powerful antidote to the compassion fatigue so prevalent in today’s military families. May the readers truly “March on with strength, O My Lord (Judges 5:21)”.

The messages of the Faith Deployed devotionals resonated with me greatly, on so many levels. As testified to by the contributing authors, we are all challenged with trusting in God’s plan, being married to the military, and loving our community in spite of fear, doubt, and depleted emotional reserves. But only by doing the first, trusting God, can we do the rest (over and over again). This book reminds us–through wonderfully appropriate Bible passages–of specifically that point. It doesn’t dismiss our hard times but gives us hope and instruction on how to break through. I’m excited for all those who needed such a book as this; who knows what new heights it can bring our relationships to, with God, our husbands, and our communities.

Faith Deployed is one of those rare books that totally delivers what it promises – daily encouragement for those brave, unsung heroes, who are called to be military wives. I offer my highest commendation to Jocelyn Green and the other outstanding contributors to this book, who have done a masterful job of skillfully crafting this inspiring collection of practical wisdom, beauty, compassion, and abundant “servings” of God’s grace. The life of a military wife is filled with persistent stresses, unending demands, and unique challenges that at times can seem quite overwhelming. This wonderful resource will powerfully connect with and impact the hearts of all those who courageously face these daily battles-and are looking to God to show Himself strong on their behalf through it all. I heartily recommend this book to you – the Christ-honoring, biblically rooted, and faith-strengthening words of encouragement you will find could change your life forever!
